Matthew James Coffman, 32, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 12, 2016) at his residence.
He was born on Feb.14, 1984, in Parkersburg, son of Larry B. Coffman and Claudia Susan Criss Coffman of Parkersburg.
He was a welder fabricator and most recently worked at Francis Enterprises in Morgantown and Fairmont.
He was also a talented musician and was a drummer in Dogs Without Horses, The F.M. and The Skinnys. He previously was a member of The Ultimatums, Eight Track Trebuchet and One Step Closer, a Christian rock band.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tracy Serge Coffman of Fairmont. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and David Burris and their children, Avery, Olivia and Owen Burris of Washington, West Virginia; his in-laws, Daniel and Cindy Serge of Fairmont; grandmother, Carolean Schafer of Fairmont; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and those in music communities throughout West Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Velma Jean Criss and Jack and Mona Coffman, as well as his cousin, D.J. Criss.
Friends may call 2-8 p.m. today at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Minister Eddie Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any charitable organization dedicated to helping animals.
