Mark E. Freeman, 66, of Monumental, died Saturday (July 8, 2017) at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 22, 1950, in Fairmont, a son of the late John Freeman, Sr. and Lillian Katherine Jones Freeman.
Mark was a welder, working in construction. He had also worked in the coal mines. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include five children, Monik McCaulley, Ohio, Fondria Yanero, Talitha Clay, Mark Walker and Marcus Coleman, all of Fairmont; several grandchildren; six siblings, Mary Johnson, Kansas, John J. (Donna) Freeman, Jr., of Katy, Shirley M. Freeman, Fairmont, Garry (Arnetta) Freeman, Fairmont, Larry (Debra) Freeman, Monongah, and Terry (Tracy) Freeman, Meadowbrook; his longtime girlfriend, whom he considered his wife, Glenda Simons, with whom he made his home; 16 nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Tracey Freeman; special friends, John Procter and Harvey Van Fosson; and a host of cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three half-sisters, Gracie Simms, Earlene Jones and Ruth Freeman; and a half-brother, Lorenzo Freeman.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. with Pastor Paul Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen cemetery in Fairmont. Condolences may be accessed at www.hutsonfuneralhomes.com.
