Margarette Lorraine Wright, 90, of Rivesville, died Monday (Sept. 12, 2016) in the Henry Clay Villa Nursing Home in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania.
She was born April 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Albert Ross Shannon and Lucy Mae Sigley Shannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Edmund Wright in 1999.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. and Rhonda Wright of Bruceton Mills; six grandchildren, Stacey Lynn Jenkins, Randi G. Wright, Mikayla D. Wright, Matthew Scheffel and his fiancé Lindsay Crabtree, Brandon Scheffel and Lindsay Scheffel; four great-grandchildren, Spencer VanHoose, Jae Jenkins, Haiden Wright and Rilynn Thomas; a sister, Pamela Anice Howell and her husband Ron Howell of Martinsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Shannon, Frederick Shannon, Kenneth Shannon and Roscoe Shannon; a sister, Naomi Jean Booth; and a granddaughter, Kelcy L. Wright.
Mrs. Wright was a retired representative for Avon Cosmetics with more than 20 years of service. She had previously worked 10 years for the Westinghouse Corporation in Fairmont. Margarette was a lifelong member of the Highlawns United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for over 40 years and volunteered with the youth fellowship for 10 years and had recently taught Sunday school with the children ages 2-6 for the last 25 years.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Jasper Street, Rivesville. The casket will lie in state from noon until 1 p.m. Friday in the Highlawns United Methodist Church, 226 Paw Paw Avenue, Rivesville. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the church with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
