Lucile Ely, 87, of Barrackville, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday (Oct. 29, 2016) in the Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Baxter, a daughter of the late Robert B. Weekley and Zona Weekley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul K. Ely, in 1982.
Mrs. Ely is survived by her five children and two sons-in-law, Paul Bruce Ely of Woodbridge, Virginia, Brenda Ely of Morgantown, David Ely of Barrackville, Diane and French Cox of Grafton and Debra and Steve Davis of Winter Springs, Florida; a sister, Mary E. "Betty" Ware of Palmyra, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert B. Weekley Jr. and John H. "Jack" Weekley, and a sister, Vivian Jose'.
Mrs. Ely before her illness was an active member of the Bethesda Baptist Church in Barrackville, where she served on various committees.
She was a 1946 graduate of Barrackville High School. Mrs. Ely worked a short time for the Westinghouse Lamp Plant before marrying the love of her life, Paul K. Ely. She was an avid gardener and fisherman and enjoyed working as a polling worker during election time.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. The casket will lie in state from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Bethesda Baptist Church, 502 Pike St., Barrackville. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastor David Cyphers officiating.
The committal will follow in the Barrackville Cemetery.
