Linda Ann Swisher, 70, of Fairmont, Kingmont Community, passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 11, 2017) at her home.
Linda was born in Fairmont, on Nov. 29, 1946, a daughter of the late Richard Sturm and Maxine Johnson Sturm.
Linda graduated from St. Peters High School and Fairmont State University with a degree in teaching. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.
She had worked at Gee Bee Department Store and retired as a manager in the cosmetics and jewelry department at Stone and Thomas at the Middletown Mall.
She was an active member of the Democrat Women's Club of Marion County, having served as president. She was currently president of the Kingmont Community Auxiliary.
Family and friends will remember Linda as an outgoing, fun-loving person who loved people, an avid West Virginia University sports fan, watching the birds, and her beloved dog, Sophie.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vern Swisher; her best friend whom she thought of as a sister, Barb Quisenberry and her family Brittany Quisenberry and Renee Quisenberry; her sister-in-law, Margaret Liotta of Florida; a nephew, A.J. Sturm; a niece, Amanda McCartney; several great-nieces, great-nephews and numerous good friends.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Rick Sturm.
Friends and family may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. D.D. Meighen officiating. Internment services will follow at the Mount Zion Cemetery.
