Leo Phillips Laratta, 66, of Fairmont, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2017) at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
He was born on April 24, 1950, a son of Josephine Phillips Laratta of Fairmont and the late John Laratta
He owned and operated the Quick Clean Laundromat on Speedway in Fairmont as well as several other businesses over the past 40 years. He was trained in business by his mother at Jo's Home Pastries, also on Speedway.
He graduated from East Fairmont High School and Salem International University. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont and a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Fairmont.
Leo was an avid sports fan, including bowling, tennis, car racing and football.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Therese; three children, G. Anthony Laratta of Fairmont, Christopher J. Laratta of Fairmont and Laura Jo Laratta of Fairmont. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives in Fairmont and Pennsylvania.
In addition to his father, Leo was preceded in death by his paternal, maternal grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. today at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 329 Maryland Ave., Fairmont, with Father Jojan Joseph C.S.T. as the celebrant. A ritualistic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today by the Knights of Columbus with a Vigil service to follow at 7:30 p.m. led by Sister Stella Cronauer. The Committal Service will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
