Lawrence's Story

Lawrence "Chiz" Wilson Burdette Jr., 74, of Talcott, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (May 24, 2016) at his home in Barger Springs.
Born in Hinton, to Lawrence and Margaret Burdette, he lived most of his life in Hinton and Charleston.
Chiz is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Robin Harris Fitzwater; his four children, Kristine Adele Burdette, Lawrence Wilson Burdette III, Laura Ann Burdette and Mark Andrew Burdette; his grandchildren, Madison Isabella Burdette and Alexandria Adele Wildman; and his siblings, James Burdette and Barbara Welch.
Chiz loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and split his time fishing the Greenbrier River and the Gulf of Mexico. Chiz was a jovial man and when he wasn't fishing or planting vegetables in his garden, you could find him spending quality time with his family. Chiz was an ordained minister and also had a lengthy law career as a successful trial lawyer. He served as a Kanawha County Assistant Prosecutor and Commissioner in Chancery, as well as City Prosecutor in Charleston. The family will hold a private funeral service for Chiz in the morning today at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home in Fairmont. Chiz will be laid to rest at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
