Karen Sue Opron, 78, of Laurel Run, passed away Monday (Jan. 9, 2017) at St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah.
She was born June 11, 1938, in Fairview, daughter of the late Robert Moore Sr. and the late Lenora (Lough) Moore.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Opron; two children, Becky Sherry and husband Allen and Michael Opron and wife Becky, all of Farmington; four brothers, Robert Moore II and wife Anne, Jim Moore and wife Connie, Ed Moore and wife Kay, and Bill Moore, all of Fairview; four grandchildren, Maggie Sherry, Marshal Sherry, Michael Opron and Cody Opron; and several nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind many special care-givers at St. Barbara's Nursing Home and Amedysis Hospice Care who provided her with so much love and support.
Karen was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and was active in the Ladies Circle. She loved her grandchildren dearly, had a fondness for animals and was very crafty. Karen was an avid sports fan. She especially enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Pirates, West Virginia University Mountaineer basketball and the North Marion Huskies.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel in Fairview. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, in the funeral home with Pastor Duane Stiles and Pastor Doug Cyphers officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
