Joyce Hope Satterfield, 80, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Jan. 7, 2017).
She was born in Millersville on Oct. 12, 1936 a daughter of the late Lionel Hope and Eula Pearl Hovatter Watson.
Joyce was Christian by faith and a loyal member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Mountain William Strings (Mountain Dulcimer musician), Fairmont Garden Club, Mountain Heritage Quilters Guild and was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels.
Joyce routinely donated to many charities and enjoyed quilting (including many quilt donations), building dollhouses, crocheting, collecting music boxes and listening to classic country music while keeping an immaculately-clean home for friends and family to create memories in.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Fluharty and his wife Lisa of Fairmont; two brothers, Lionel A. Watson of Georgia and Francis H. Watson of Virginia; grandchildren, Brandon Tait of Marysville, Washington, Corey and Levi Fluharty of Fairmont, Brian P. Bennett of Northwood, New Hampshire, Ashley R. Knoll of Moundsville, Jessie M. Knoll of Fairmont, Eric Satterfield of Kingmont, Brian Satterfield of Waynesville, North Carolina, Aaron Satterfield of Eaton, Ohio, and Tiffany, Andy and Adam Stevenski of Fairmont; great-grandchildren, Bonnie and Reese Tait of Marysville, Washington, Garrett Satterfield of Kingmont, Autum and Breyden Satterfield of Waynesville, North Carolina, Aden, Addison and Asher Satterfield of Eaton, Ohio, and Austin and Aubrey Stevenski of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denward Satterfield, who passed in 2010; one daughter, Bonnie Renae Fluharty; one sister, Marie Watson; a half-sister, Voncil Linton and a half-brother, Junior Lee Linton.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home Wednesday with Evangelist Jonathan Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.
