Joy Patricia Goodnight, 70, of Fairmont, passed peacefully with family and friends by her side at Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Morgantown, on Jan. 28, 1946, a daughter of the late Sam Gregg and Dorothy Good Gregg.
She had worked at Davis Lynch Glass Factory in Morgantown for 16 years in the painting and decorating department. In addition, she was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother.
Joy was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed swimming and sunbathing in her pool. She and her late husband loved riding motorcycles.
She is survived by her children, her son, Jeffrey Goodnight and his wife Leigh Ann of Fairmont, and her daughter, Lori L. Green and her fiance Paul Harton of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Kristina Green, Leanne (Green) Hyde and her husband Bobby of Fairmont, and Olivia Goodnight also of Fairmont.
Also surviving is one brother and sister-in-law, Richard "Dick" and Joan Gregg of Star City; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Charles Nagy of Westover, Clara and Charlie Huggins of Morgantown, Arlene and Gary Neely of Westover and Dorothy Jean and Paul Dezzutti of Westover; and her best friend, Linda (Jolliff) Christy of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Goodnight; her son-in-law, George Green; sisters, Hazel E. Westfall, Sadie Noone and her husband Bill and Rose Virginia Nicklin and her husband Bob; and her brothers, George Gregg and his wife Peggy, Samuel H. Gregg and his wife Alma, and a brother in infancy, John Lewis Gregg.
