John Michael Woodburn, age 56, passed away on May 24, 2017, at his home in Clover, South Carolina, as the result of a massive heart attack.
He was born on April 25, 1961, in Fairmont, a son of Donna Arnett Woodburn of Fairmont and late Lee E. Woodburn.
In addition to his mother, John is survived by his friend and former wife, Michelle Rundle Woodburn, to whom he was married for 33 years.
He also is survived by their three children, Andrea Woodburn Ford of Blacksburg, South?Carolina, John Daniel Woodburn (Alissa) of Great Lakes, Illinois, and Angela Woodburn Brandon (Austin) of Clover, South Carolina; and three very special grandchildren, Chad McClain Ford Jr., Noah Daniel Brandon and Aurora Jade Woodburn.
Also surviving are his brother, Lonnie Woodburn of Fairmont; his sisters, Jana Woodburn Bolam (Ken) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Leah Woodburn Shepherd (Steve) of Morgantown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Fairmont Senior High in 1979. He later graduated from Fairmont State University, where he received an associate's degree as a medical lab tech. He lived and worked in Fairmont until 1997, when he relocated to Clover, South Carolina. There he was employed by Piedmont Natural Gas in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a service technician. He was employed there until he was forced to retire early due to becoming totally disabled.
John was an avid car enthusiast, and was a very skilled automobile mechanic. He also enjoyed spending his free time with his family. He was an intelligent and kind person who enjoyed being helpful to others.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Lake Wylie, South Carolina. His body will be returned to West Virginia for burial in the Arnettsville Cemetery in the Woodburn family plot.
