Jo Ann's Story
Jo Ann Cross, 76, of Fairmont, but recently living at the Golden Living Center in Morgantown, passed from this life Sunday (May 15, 2016) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Sophia, April 20, 1940, a daughter of the late Joe Thomas and Helen Mae Browsky Hughes.
She was a loving mother and homemaker. She had a good heart and would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it. She was a member of the (St. Paul's) LIFE United Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting ceramics and playing bingo. Jo Ann was more of a one-on-one type of person and enjoyed visiting with her friends when she took her walks.
Mrs. Cross is survived by two daughters, Melissa A. D'Ambrosia and husband John of Naples, Florida, and Rosalynn Cross and fiance Sean Russell of Fairmont; one son, Donald C. Cross and wife Lillian Macado of Naples, Florida; one brother, Howard M. Hughes of Wichita Falls, Kansas; five sisters, Sharon Hughes, Barbara Garcia, Helen Depasquale, Patty Ramage and husband Joe of Fairmont, and Peggy Swisher and husband Kevin of Fairmont; two grandsons, Donald Leon Cross and Derrick Cross; also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Cross; an infant son, Sherman Cross; and one brother, Robert Hughes.
In keeping with Jo Ann's wishes, she has been cremated and there will be no public services. Her family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
