Jeanette Hamilton Young, 86, of Fairmont passed away Monday (March 27, 2017) at Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
She was born in McRoberts, Kentucky, to Harold and Lurlie Hamilton on May 19, 1930.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister June Davis and a brother James Hayes. Jeanette was also predeceased by her late husband John Young, former Scout executive, Mountaineer Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Jeanette was a former church secretary for Central United Methodist Church and a retired LPN at Fairmont General Hospital. After the death of her husband in 1976, she went back to school and obtained her nursing degree at the age of 46. She retired from Fairmont General Hospital in 1993. Jeanette was a long time member of Central Christian Church. She loved being a "Meemaw" and enjoyed returning home to Kentucky whenever she could.
Jeanette is survived by her children; Connie Bryan of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Becky Thompson of Fairmont and Charlie Young of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and a special son-in-law Mark Thompson. "Meemaw" had six grandchildren, Darren (Megan) Bryan of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, Courtney (Frank) Tolbert of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Alex Thompson of Fairmont, Zachary Thompson of Fairmont, John Young of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Morgan Young of Virginia Beach, Virgina. She was also survived by five great-grandchildren, Adeline and Beau Bryan and Isaiah, Elijah and Jeremiah Tolbert.
Jeanette is also survived by her sister-in-law, Yvonne Hayes, her nephews Steve (Phyllis) Davis, Mike (Tonya) Davis, Dennis (Mickey) Hayes, a niece Cindy Williams and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. Fairmont. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Dr. Robin Norsworthy officiating.
