Janet's Story

Janet Hope Newhouse, 70, of Chestnut Street, Rivesville, passed away early Friday morning (Feb. 10, 2017) in her residence.
She was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Beckley, daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Earl J. and Mabel Gamble Gilbert.
Mrs. Newhouse attended Trinity Assembly of God in Fairmont. She played the organ for various church services and was active with the church choir.
She was a graduate of Morgantown High School in 1964. Mrs. Newhouse recently retired from the Marion County Board of Education with 25 years of service as a secretary in the accounting department. She very much enjoyed playing the piano and traveling with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, William Newhouse of Rivesville (married 53 years); four daughters and their husbands, Tammy Newhouse of Rivesville, Angie and Tom Taralla of Rivesville, Michelle Walters of Rivesville, and Tiffany and Steve Carter of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Jessica Walters of Springfield, Missouri, Anthony Walters of Rivesville, Roman Walters of Rivesville, Grant and Bennett Carter of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Shelby and her husband Bill Fredenberger of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Diana Gilbert of Cleveland, Tennessee; one nephew; one niece; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Alex Walters.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper Street, Rivesville,
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the funeral home with Pastor Skip Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown.
