James "Butch"'s Story

James Robert "Butch" Davis, 70, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (June 2, 2016) at home from an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 16, 1945, in Fairmont, son of the late William H. Davis and Sylvia (McElfresh) Davis.
James is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Frances (Vaglia) Davis.
He served in the U.S. Army for four years. He was a 1963 graduate of West Fairmont High School. He worked at Morrison and McClune Frozen Foods Warehouse as a warehouseman and truck driver for 17 years. He later worked for Unique Foods for three years and then Community Hardware for 17 years until he retired on disability due to a heart attack.
James "Butch" was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. He enjoyed helping his family out when they needed it and loved watching cowboy movies and war movies.
In addition to his wife, James "Butch" is survived by two sons, Brian K. Davis of Fairmont and Robert Davis of Fairmont; one granddaughter, Dominique Davis of Mooreville, North Carolina; four sisters, Martha Cox of Fairmont, Shirley Mullens of Hurricane, Virginia Abruzzino of Newbury, Ohio, and Rebecca Harsh and husband Roger of Fairmont; one brother, Jack Davis and wife Juanita of Fairmont; a brother-in-law, Allen Fox of Fairmont; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Davis Fox; his brother, William E. "Bill" Davis and his wife Anna Marie; and three brothers-in-law, John Cox Jr., Frank Abruzzino and Frank Mullens.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Evangelist Jonathan Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens with full military rites being performed at graveside by the Marion County Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louis A. Johnson Virgina Medical Center in Clarksburg or a hospice of choice.
