Irene Timmins, 87, of Colfax, passed from this life Monday (May 30, 2016) at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Jellico, Tennessee, July 23, 1928, a daughter of the late Alvin Hendricks Lamb and Hattie Ann Ivy Lamb.
Irene was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who really enjoyed spending time with all of her family. She was Baptist by faith. She had formerly worked for the RCA Company in Cincinnati and for the Polis Bros. here in Fairmont.
She also enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and listening to old country music.
Mrs. Timmins is survived by her son, Iria M. Timmins, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Colfax; three grandchildren, Lisa (Joe) Parilak, Danny Timmins and Shari (Shawn) Sanders; five great-grandchildren, Chloie Timmins, Shawnae and Sharidan Sanders and Abreonna and Adalynn Parilak; her canine companion, Abe; also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Matthew Timmins, Sr., on Jan. 14, 2006; her son, Danny Lee Timmins; five brothers, Bill, Jim, Joseph, Albert and Junior Lamb; and three sisters, Ruth Jones, Mary Bryant and Jeanette Walters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A) 320 Madison St., Fairmont. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home Wednesday with Pastor Bill Stutler officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
