Henry E. Hupp, age 90, of Pleasant Hill, Tennessee, and formerly of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Jan. 29, 2017) at Uplands Village Wellness Center.
He was born May 6, 1926, in Parkersburg, son of the late John C. "Jack" and Ethel Walter Hupp.
Henry is survived by his one daughter-in-law, Valerie Hupp; two granddaughters, Sara Hupp and Rebecca Hupp-Dukes; one grandson, Matthew Hupp; and one niece, Susan Rice.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice (Stewart) Hupp; two sons, John Stewart and James David; two brothers, Walter and John; and one sister, Lois Rice. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family.
Henry was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State College. He also completed graduate studies in economics and history at West Virginia University.
He was employed for more than 40 years with Monongahela Power Co. in Fairmont, Parkersburg, Clarksburg and Oakland, Maryland. He retired Dec. 1, 1990 as manager, employee development.
Henry was a member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church, Tennessee, and a former member of the Central Christian Church in Fairmont, where he served as a deacon. While in Fairmont, Henry was a charter member of Marion County 4-H Foundation, a volunteer and board member of Meals-on-Wheels and the East Fairmont High School Foundation. He served as a VITA volunteer for the IRS. Henry was also a member of Sons of the Revolution, Pricketts Fort Foundation and Fairmont State University Foundation.
He was on active duty for two years with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Henry and his wife Mary spent many interesting vacations hiking and sight-seeing throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and in other countries: Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, Holland, Mexico, New Zealand, Scotland, Switzerland, Peru and Iceland. They attended 90 Elderhostels.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Pleasant Hill Community Church in Tennessee.
