Gladys E. Kelly, 97, of Farmington, passed away Friday (March 31, 2017) at St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah.
She was born June 30, 1919, in Mannington, a daughter of the late Oscar Wilde and Lillian May (Biershing) Summers.
She was also preceded in death by her stepmother who raised her, Mary Lenora West Summers.
Gladys was a homemaker and was also employed as a substitute school teacher for the Marion County Board of Education. She was a member of the Augusta Chapter No. 6, Order of the Eastern Star of Mannington for more than 50 years and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideons International. She was a member of the former Idamay United Methodist church and enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Timothy) Boyce and Marsha R. (Charles) Cunningham of Kellytown; grandchildren, Kelly (Richard) Greathouse of Kellytown, Richard (Molly) Gibson of Fairmont, Amanda (Carl) Andrick of Kellytown and R.D. Harrison of Rivesville; four great-grandchildren, Kayla Andrick, Ryan Greathouse, Emma Andrick and Tyler Andrick.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Kelly, Jr.; a son John Richard Kelly; brothers Leroy (Lucille) Summers and Wilfred (Dorothy) Summers; sisters Lenora (James) Husk, Virginia (Daniel) Newman, Violet (Doc) Thompson and Esther (William) Snodgrass; and stepbrothers James R. and Calvin Huey.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Richard Fluharty officiating. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Farmington.
