Geraldine's Story

Geraldine Elnora Garlow, 93, of Fairmont, Meadowdale Community, passed away on Sunday (July 23, 2017) at Monongalia General Hospital.
She was born on July 28, 1923, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late John Turner and Ida (Vincent) Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Edgar Garlow, in June of 1991.
Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a devoted member of the Fellowship Baptist Church for more than 30 years. A sweet, kind person, she loved children and volunteered in the church nursery, and enjoyed her large, loving family.
Mrs. Garlow is survived by a son, Timothy Ray Garlow of Meadowdale; two daughters, Linda Kay Vincent and her husband James of Oak Hill and Deborah Lynn Crane and her husband Glenn of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Timothy Garlow II and his wife Chelsea, Jennifer Raschella and her husband Tony, Heather Hawkins and her husband John, Rachel Moran, Crystal Moran, Charles Moran, Scarlet Abdelwahed, Sara Carter and Travis Garlow; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents and husband, Geraldine was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Edgar Garlow Jr.; a daughter, Carolyn Louise Garlow; eight sisters; one brother; and a grandson, Christopher A. Garlow.
Mrs. Garlow's family would like to thank her Fellowship Baptist Church family, care partners and the Marion County Senior Citizens.
Friends and family may call from 2-8 p.m. today at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 28 Fellowship Drive, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church with Pastor Glenn Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
