Frank R. "Pooch" Gabor, 80, of Baltimore and a native of Grant Town, died Saturday (May 14, 2016) at his residence in Baltimore.
He was born Dec. 5, 1935, in Everettville, son of the late Frank H. and Theresa Gabor.
Frank was a graduate of Fairview High School Class of 1953, from Fairmont State in 1961 and George Washington University in 1964 with his master's in health care administration. While at Fairmont State, he was a member of the Tau Beta Iota Fraternity.
He was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force from 1954-57. He was also a member of several professional and service organizations in Baltimore and in Fairmont. The Gabors became the namesakes of the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center in 2006.
Frank retired as president and CEO of MGH Health Services Inc. and along with his wife also owned and operated About Faces Day Spas in the Baltimore area.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jane White Gabor; his son and daughter-in-law, Jon S. and Gretchen E. Gabor; and granddaughter, Lillian Elizabeth all of Baltimore.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont. A celebration of life will be held beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center on the campus of Fairmont State University with the Rev. Dr. Richard Bowyer officiating. A reception will follow until 5 p.m.
The Marion County Honor Guard will conduct military honors Saturday at the celebration.
