Francis Junior Lough, 89, of Kincheloe Road, Jane Lew, passed away peacefully at 11:05 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 24, 2016) at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He blessed this earth when he was born in Littleton on Feb. 21, 1927, a son of the late Thomas Ogal Lough and Maxine Virginia Bogard Lough Schweinebraten.
Sixty-eight years ago he met his sweetheart, Roberta Joan Burnside, at the skating rink and it was love at first sight. They were married on Feb. 2, 1948, and she will treasure her memories of the years spent with her one true love, devoted husband and wise patriarch of their family.
His kind, caring spirit will be carried on by his seven children, Cathy Donnellan of Jane Lew, Sheri Jacobs and husband, Dave, of Jane Lew, David Lough and wife, Florence, of Clarksburg, Robin Everitt and husband, Bill, of Jane Lew, Brian Lough and wife, Dianne, of Jane Lew, Kevin Lough and wife, Mary, of Fairmont and Steven Lough and wife, Carla, of Fairmont; 11 grandchildren, Joy Dean, Jamie Jacobs, Chad Jacobs, Chuck Lough, Joe Lough, Amanda Barclay, Autumn Miller, Shasta Lough, Jacob Lough, Caleb Lough and Kayla Lough; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Lough and wife, Margaret, of Clarksburg; uncle, Kenneth Bogard of St. Louis, Missouri; aunt, Louise Weaver of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he will be reunited in Heaven with his brother-in-law, Robert "Gene" Burnside.
Francis was an honored veteran of the United States Navy having served on the U.S.S Cabot (Ship #28 nicknamed the Iron Woman) during World War II. He retired from Union Carbide as a foreman with 30 years of service. He was a devoted and faithful member of the Central Church of Christ in Clarksburg for 78 years, and served as an elder, deacon and Bible class teacher for 47 of those years.
Friends and family will gather from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Perry Henegar officiating. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
