Frances "Babes" Anna Koch, 77, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (April 13, 2017) at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
She was born on March 5, 1940, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Agnes (Syrieka) Zabolotny.
She held a deep compassion for the common man. She had a gift in her heart to make people feel better just by listening and talking to them. Perhaps this was her purpose in life, a true gift from God.
Frances and her husband, John, enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals. She loved the outdoors and tending to her garden and flowers. She also enjoyed hiking, walking and camping. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John Koch Jr.; her two sons, Dr. John Kevin Koch of Vienna, Brian Koch of Arizona; her daughter, Kelly Jo Vaughn and her husband Charles of Arkansas; her two sisters, Josephine "Jo" Mazure, Helen Poling and her husband James, all of Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Frances was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Zabolotny, Val Zabolotny, James Zabolotny and Stanley Zabolotny, and her sister, Florence "Toolie" Boyles.
Family and friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
