Florence "Patsy" Hilda Estel, 74, of Fairmont passed away Sunday evening (Oct. 23, 2016) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Marion County on May 9, 1942, a daughter of the late John A. Myers and Ada (Martin) Myers.
Patsy graduated seventh in her class from East Fairmont High School in 1960 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority, Alpha Mu Chapter, Grafton and the Cross Roads Lioness Club.
Patsy was first employed as a dayshift manager of the former Tiffany's Restaurant in Fairmont from 1964-1971 and was later employed as a professional bill collector for 18 years. She retired as a secretary for Davis-Weaver Funeral Home in Clarksburg after 12 years of service.
Patsy, an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and board games, bowling and watching Mountaineer football and basketball.
She is survived by her grandson, John "J.R." Estel and his daughter, Kirsten of Marietta, Ohio; her granddaughter, Angela Estel and her daughter, Skylar Moats of Fairmont; her sister, Margaret "Peggy"?Myers of Fairmont; her brothers, Harvey Myers and his wife Debbie of Winfield, John Myers, Jr. and his wife Rose of Fairmont and Larry Myers and Joseph Nutter of Lost Creek; her nieces and nephews, Lisa Boyce, Christopher Myers, Michelle Catersino, Seth Myers and Drew Myers; her special friends, Donna Sims and Barry Morgan; and her former daughter-in-law, Rose Estel.
In addition to her parents, Patsy was also preceded in death by her beloved son, David Estel; her former husband, Wayne Estel; and granddaughter-in-law, Heather Estel.
Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home 209 Merchant Street. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rose Myers and Donna Sims as speakers. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
