Evelyn M. Simmons, 86, of Fairmont, WV, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Clarksburg on December 29, 1930 a daughter of the late Thomas and Ioba Powell Kisner. On November 16, 1947 she married the late Arley O. Simmons, who preceded her in death on August 22, 1999.
Surviving are four children: Arley L. Simmons of Fairview, Connie Seese and husband Bill of Florida, Louis Simmons of Pennsylvania, and Sheila Sine and husband Ben of Fairview; 10 grandchildren: Billy Seese (Natalie), Tommy Seese, Mike Seese (Felicia), Jenny Shaffer (Mike), Arley Tinker Simmons, Barbara Jo Simmons, Louis Simmons, April Simmons, David Gower, and Benny Sine; two step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild; and her very good friend Doree N. Wright. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Evelyn was preceded in death by her three siblings: Clifford Kisner, Martha Sayres, and Wilma Hall; a daughter-in-law Sue Simmons; and a good friend Beverly Pyles.
Evelyn was a homemaker and loved to work word search puzzles and watch westerns on television. The family would like to thank Fairmont Health and Rehab and WV Caring for the care of Evelyn during her illness.
A graveside service will be held at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1pm with Pastor Charles Jeffries presiding. The Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Simmons Family during this time.
