The Rev. Eugene Moran Garlow, 88, of Poca, originally of Fairmont, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday (April 9, 2016) at home surrounded by his family.
He set a godly example for all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
He was born in Marion County on Aug. 25, 1927, to the late John and Dorothy Moran Garlow. His brother, John Richard Garlow, also preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Fairmont State College and United Theological Seminary. He faithfully served the Lord in many churches throughout West Virginia as chalk artist, evangelist and pastor. He was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Scott Depot.
Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Farley Garlow; and children, Eugene II (Carol) of Poca, Amy (Duane) Geib of Tennessee, John of North Carolina and Philip (Julie) of Poca. His memory will be treasured by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Scott Depot, with the Rev. Kenneth Stidham officiating. Friends may call from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial and graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Zion Cemetery, Fairmont.
