Edith D. Shaffer, 92, of Mannington, passed away peacefully at home Sunday (May 22, 2016).
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel Hawkins Stevens; husbands, Randall Tanner, Paul Huffman and Dale Shaffer; brothers, Virgil, Earl and infant Billy Stevens; and a sister, Dorothy Sharp.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Jo Stevens Sharp of Buckhannon; children, Randall (Janet) Tanner of Cheswick, Pennsylvania, Ronald (Penny) Tanner of New Martinsville, Diana (Harlen) Tanner Batson of Mannington and Pamela (Barry) Tanner Moll of St. Albans; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and nephews; several cousins; and a special church friend, June Shaver.
Edith was a member of Seven Pines Church. She loved to sew and quilt, play cards with her family and enjoyed her flowers. She talked with her sister Mary Jo every night before she went to bed.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Barry Moll (Edith's son-in-law) officiating. The Rev. Brandon Moll (Edith's grandson) will be the soloist. Interment will follow at Whetstone Cemetery.
