Dorothy 'Dot' King
Dorothy "Dot" Louise King, 71, of Rivesville, passed away Thursday (March 16, 2017) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born at Mill Creek on April 14, 1945, a daughter of the late Carl Wesley Potts and Dicie Potts.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Alonzo "Pete" King in August 2013.
She was a wonderful homemaker, devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and spending time caring for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Michael "Mike" Shannon and his wife Lisa of Fairview, Carl King of Ohio and Alonzo "J.R." King and his wife Kristen of North Carolina; five daughters, Kelly Jones and her husband Jake of McCurdysville, Lisa Long and her husband Tim of Morgantown, Jerlyn Strattan and her husband Eric of Inwood, Tracey Corbin of Ansted and Debra Bone of Alaska; a daughter-in-law, Vicki King of Worthington; a brother, Broaddus "Bob" Potts and his wife Marilyn of Rivesville; and three sisters, Thelma Phillips of Pittsburgh, Helen Morris and her husband Jim of Virginia and Loretta Pfab of Morgantown.
Also surviving are her very special grandchildren, Kimberly, Tiffany, Shelby, Trinity, Troy, Miranda, Nicole, Brandon, Kayla, T.J., Missy, Devin, Kevin, Travis, Cierra, Autumn, Cassie, Aiden, Katie, Emily, Garrett, Blaze and Amanda.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dot was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Lee King; a grandson, Mason Jones; and several brothers and sisters.
Friends and family may call from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Carpenter & Ford funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Laura Stiller officiating. Interment will follow at the McCurdysville Cemetery.
