Doris Wannee Bunner, 91, of Fairmont, peacefully passed away at her home on Thursday (Nov. 17, 2016) surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born in Fairmont, on June 20, 1925, the last survivor of the children born to the late Leroy and Wilma Elsie (Rogers) Bunner.
Miss Bunner graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1942 and later graduated from the West Virginia Business College. She retired from Alcan Aluminum Corp. (now Novelis) after 35 years as a secretary in the Personnel Department.
She was a faithful member of the Bunner Ridge Church of Christ.
Doris is survived by her nieces and nephews, Bernard "Buddy" Ryan and his wife Sioux Pyles Ryan, Michael L. Vincent and his wife Pamela Jacobs Vincent, Terry Frederick and her husband Thomas, Kat Stevens and her husband John, and Susan Clelland Ryan Cockerham and her husband Ken; and several great-nieces and -nephews whom she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by three sisters, Ida Mae Ryan Walls, Mary Virginia "Jimmy" Vincent Williams and Virgie Gladine Bunner who died in infancy; four brothers-in-law, Lafayette E. Vincent, Bernard Ryan, Claud Walls and Roger A. Williams; and a nephew, Gary Ryan.
Friends and family may call from 2-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Evangelist Richard Bunner officiating. Interment services will follow at Mount Nebo Cemetery.
