Donald L. "Donnie" Stemple, 65, of Fairmont, formally of Halleck Road, passed away quietly at Ruby Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.
Donnie is the son of Donald "Pete" Stemple of Fairmont and the late Myra "Lou" Shorter Riddle. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Patty Jackson.
Donnie was a retired truck driver putting in over 30 years of driving mostly coast to coast. He loved hunting, fishing and cooking. He also enjoyed having cookouts with his family until he became sick.
In addition to his father, Donnie is survived by two sons, Michael Stemple and his wife Linda and Kenneth Stemple all of Fairmont; two stepsons, Matthew Loudin and his wife Melanie and Richard Loudin and his wife, Nicole; a stepdaughter, Christine Closson; and 11 grandchildren, Courtney, Maddison, Cody, Dustin, Brandon, Jaeden, Devin, Zachary, David, Melina and Layla.
Also surviving is one sister, Helen Moore and her husband, Jim; three brothers, Doug Stemple, John Stemple, D. J. Stemple and his wife Amy; and a brother-in-law, Randy Jackson.
Donnie is also survived by four aunts, Irene "Cittie" Linn, Beaulah "Boots" Potts and her husband Lee, Karol Sue Long and Darla Miller and her husband Robert; two uncles, Tommy Shorter and his wife Linda and Rick Shorter and his wife Evelyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Samuel Linn Cemetery at Benton's Ferry.
