Donald Orville Heater, 86, of Fairmont, died Friday (April 28, 2017) at his residence.
He was born June 13, 1930, in Fairmont, a son of the late Russell A. Heater and Audrey Marie Martin Heater.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Richards Heater.
He is survived by two brothers, Franklin Clifford Heater of Monumental Community and Russell Lane Heater of South Carolina; several cousins, including Edith McCartney and her husband William McCartney of DuBois, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Richard Heater and infant brother David Ray Heater, and a sister, Shirley Marie Harris.
Mr. Heater was a retired security guard for the Martinka Mines and formerly worked in the delivery department for the Hartley's Department Store. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Donald was a member of the Gateway United Methodist Church and a graduate of Fairview High School.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Reverend Donald Thomas and Reverend Jim Zinn officiating. The committal service will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fairmont.
