David Earl Lewis, 67, of Fairmont, passed away at his home Sunday (July 16, 2017).
David was born May 2, 1950, in Fairmont, to his parents, the late Raymond Earl Lewis and Canna Lee (Rexroad) Stansberry.
David served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He loved carpentry and fishing and enjoyed watching Western movies of all kinds. He also enjoyed driving while listening to the radio playing classic rock music.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his uncles, Fred Rexroad and Eugene Rexroad.
David leaves behind his devoted wife, Shirley Salyers Lewis of Fairmont; his sister, Linda Darlene McClung and her children Connor McClung, Randy McClung and Eben McClung; David's biological children, Melissa Lewis and Stephanie Lewis-Lester; as well as his stepchildren, Miguel Nieves, Benjamin Nieves, Roberto Nieves and Migdalia Nieves, of Florida, and Jose Nieves of Massachusetts. He also leaves behind an uncle, Shannon Rexroad; an aunt, Lillian Eddy; a grandchild, Lars Lester; as well as several cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home to help with expenses.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Taylor County Honor Guard.
