David Wayne Edwards, 47, of Norway, passed away Saturday (Feb. 25, 2017) after courageously battling cancer.
"Davey" as he was known to his family and friends, worked at Nickels Bakery for more than 14 years. Above all he loved God and family. He was a very loving husband and father as well as a great friend to all who knew him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also loved camping and watching UFC.
Davey is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Renee (Gump) Edwards; a daughter, Alycen Jeanne Edwards; a son, Noah David Nelson Edwards; a stepmother, Shirley Benson; two brothers, Charles Lee Edwards and wife Susann of Warrenton, Virginia, and Ralph Douglas Edwards and companion Terry Storms of Fairmont; several brothers and sisters-in-law, Beverly Decker of Norway, Bonnie Edwards of Farmington, Linda Lou Barker and husband William H. "Buck" of Fairmont, Robert Dwaine Gump Jr. and wife Kelly Sue of Dayton, Ohio, and Rhonda Elaine Taylor and husband Richard K. "Rick" of Flemington; several nieces and nephews, Earl Edwards Jr. and wife Jennifer, Jennifer Miselis and partner Vince Lovko, Adam Edwards and partner Querida Del Gaton, Joshua Isaiah Edwards, Jonathan Isaac Edwards, James Robert Dye, Philip Andrew Edwards, Kenneth Eugene Decker Jr. and fiancé Kerri Miller, Robert Dwaine Gump III, Kelsey Leigh Gump and fiancé Michael Floyd, Corey Richard Gump and fiancé Elizabeth Albarn, Carrie Anna Gump, Hope Lynn Davis and husband Chad, Joshua Lyle Gump and wife Chelsea and Jessica Renee Kaylene Gump; and a great niece, Braeagh Decker. Davey is also survived by other great nieces and nephews, aunt and uncles, cousins and dear friends.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Edwards; his father, Philip Nelson Edwards; three brothers, Robert "Bobby" Edwards, Earl Edwin Edwards and Kenneth Eugene Decker; a sister, Karen Sue "Susie" Edwards; and his nephew Billy Edwards.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. Fairmont. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the WVU Medicine Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Dr. Morgantown, WV 26506.
