Daniel Neil Austin, 65, of Knottsville, passed away Saturday (Oct. 1, 2016) at his home.
He was born in Grafton, Oct. 13, 1950, son of the late Neil O. Austin and is survived by his mother, Bonnie E. Foster Austin.
Danny graduated from Grafton High School Class 1968. He was a farmer and loved being outdoors on the Austin Family Farm. He was in the United States Navy. He was raised in the Knottsville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Marty Austin and companion Marie Goush, Terry Austin and wife Michelle, both of Grafton; one sister, Kathryn Barnes, Medina, Ohio; one uncle, Ed Austin; four aunts, Jackie Lankford, Lovela Beel, Flossie Blaney, and Barbara Foster; 12 nieces and nephews, Troy, Bryan, Phillip, Adam, Hilary, Michael, Emily, Grace, Mandy, Jeremiah, Tara, Amanda, and many great-nieces, -nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Grace Foster; paternal grandparents, Oakley and Ocean Austin; brother-in-law, Brad Barnes; and nephew, Riley Puckett.
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Kevin Bartlett and the Rev. Judith Flynn officiating at Bartlett Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Austin Family Cemetery at Knottsville. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post No. 3081, American Legion Taylor County Post No. 12, Central West Virginia DAV Chapter 24 and their auxiliaries and the Navy Honor Guard.
