Cynthia "Cindy" Marie Salentro Trotta, 69, of Fairmont, died Tuesday morning (Sept. 20, 2016) at her residence after a long-fought battle with MS.
She was born in Clarksburg, on Sept. 16, 1947, daughter of the late Dominick and Margaret Gonzalez Salentro.
Cindy retired from the Harrison County Board of Education with 35 years of service. She was a teacher at Victory High School and Liberty High School. She graduated from Fairmont State University with a double major in French and English. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Cindy was a kind and loving person. She loved going to the beach and being with her family. And her favorite thing was being called "Nonnie" by her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Albert Trotta of Fairmont; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph "Joe" and Jaime Trotta of Fairmont; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Eddie Koski of Fairmont; and four grandchildren, Dominick and Madi Trotta, Gabriella and Gianna Koski.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Becky Salentro of Shinnston, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John Salentro.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. till 9 p.m. today at the Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Walter Jagela as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. A vigil led by Sister Stella Cronauer will be held at 8 p.m. today at the funeral Home.
