Charles "Junior" "Charlie" Sterling Piercy Jr., 78, of Kingmont, passed peacefully and suddenly from this life Thursday (Feb. 2, 2017) in his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Elkins, on Aug. 19, 1938, the only child of the late Charles S. Sr. and Julia Elva Collett Piercy.
Charlie was a Christian by faith. He retired as the industrial/commercial representative of the Mon Power Co. with 31 years of service.
He served as president of the West Virginia CCC Museum Association; he served as the chairman of the board of the Kingmill Valley Public Service District; he was a member of the Power Pioneers; he was a member of both the Mannington Moose Lodge and the Fraternal and Benevolent Order of Elks; he was a member of the Marion County Life Long Learners.
He believed very strongly in making sure that people of position and leadership were held accountable for their actions.
He very much enjoyed making wine, hunting, fishing, reading and gardening. He loved his family, friends and community and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Mr. Piercy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia I. Lindsay Piercy; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles S. III and Cathy Piercy of Philippi; one daughter, Kimberly Piercy and her companion Tasha Horton of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Lloyd and Lindsay Kincaid, Chad, Amanda, Dustin and Dominique Piercy; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Jo Kincaid and Hailey James Piercy; one sister-in-law, Bernice Bennett of Beverly; and several cousins and extended family members.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Gary William Piercy, and several in-laws.
Charlie chose cremation as his method of final disposition. There will be a celebration of his life from 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, held at the Kingmont Community Building.
He had requested that memorial contributions be made to either the West Virginia CCC Museum Association, P.O. Box 100, Kingmont, WV 26578 or the charity of your choice.
