Reverend Charles E. "Mac" McDonald, 89, of Pratt, formerly of Levels Community, Fairmont, passed away Friday (Aug. 25, 2017) in Charleston.
Charles was born Dec. 16, 1927, the son of the late Lawrence McDonald and Zelma Moore McDonald.
Charles was the pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church in Fairmont for more than 30 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include four children, Lois Ellen Hopkins of Pratt, Rex McDonald and wife Connie of St. Augustine, Florida, Randy McDonald and wife Melissa of St. Augustine, Florida., and Michael Ryan McDonald and wife Hannah of Fairmont; a sister, Judy and husband Harold Hamrick of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Stephan Hopkins, Adam Hopkins, Tyler McDonald, Jacob McDonald and Madeline McDonald; and a great-grandchild, Devin Hopkins.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra McDonald, who passed on Jan. 12, 2013; four brothers, Robert, William, Marvin and Gerald McDonald; and two sisters, Delores Lynn Rohrer and Lexie Hickman.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Don Nobel officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
