Charlene VanPelt, 69, of Fairmont, passed from this life Saturday (March 18, 2017) after a courageous battle with cancer, in the home of her sister Carol in Mansfield, Ohio.
She was bon in Fairmont on Aug. 16, 1947 a daughter of the late Robert Fay and Marguerite Miller Cleveland.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who truly enjoyed the times she had with her family. She operated a home cleaning service for several years and is well known and fondly remembered by her customers from Morgantown to Clarksburg. She was honest, upbeat and optimistic and she never met a stranger. She was a 1965 graduate of East Fairmont High School.
Charlene would like to thank Muriale's for food; Trish for the sweet pink blanket; Hospice of North Central Ohio and special caregivers Paula Earlywine of Mansfield, Ohio, grandson Joshua VanPelt and daughter-in-law Melissa VanPelt for their dedication to her care; daughter-in-law Gina VanPelt of Oklahoma for the care packages she sent; sister Kay Martin for all her help with doctor appointments and chemo/radiation treatments; sister Carol for sharing her home; and niece Kimberly Boehman for taking Charlene to her chemo treatments.
Ms. VanPelt is survived by her devoted sons Troy (Niecy) VanPelt and Frank VanPelt both of Fairmont, Jayson (Melissa) Vanpelt (her primary caregivers her last two weeks) of Bellville, Ohio and Raymond (Kathy) Vanpelt of Mansfield, Ohio; two brothers Jimmy (Jackie) Cleveland and Billy Cleveland both of Fairmont; two sisters Carol (Bill) Brown of Mansfield and Kay (Gordon) Martin (her primary caregiver prior to her stay in the hospital) of Rock Lake; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Charlene chose cremation as her method of final disposition. Family and friends may call from 1-3 p.m. today, with a celebration of her life beginning at 3 p.m. at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St.
