Carney Truman Simmons, 88, of Daveys Run Community, passed away Thursday (Dec. 29, 2016) at his home.
He was born in Fairmont on March 19, 1928, a son of the late Hazel Arbogast Simmons Hartley.
Mr. Simmons retired from the Rivesville Power Plant with more than 20 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a lifelong member of the Moose club.
He is survived by his only child, Robert Simmons and his wife Veronica of Fairmont; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and four nieces and nephews, Sharon, James, Calra and Ron.
In addition to his mother, Carney was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean (Workman) Simmons and his brother, Lanny Simmons.
Friends and family may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Edward Freiwald officiating. Interment will follow at the Barrackville Cemetery.
