Carl W. Moore, 82, of Daybrook, died Friday (April 28, 2017) in the Mon General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born June 14, 1934, in Monongalia County, a son of the late Winfred "Sam" Moore and Della Snow Yost Moore.
Carl was a retired meter reader/well tender for the Consolidated Natural Gas Co. with more than 36 years of service. He was a 1952 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School. Even though he worked for the gas company for many years, his true passion was farming.
Surviving are four sons and their spouses, David Moore, Dale Moore, Danny and Monica Moore, and Donny and Bonnie Moore, all of Daybrook; one daughter and her spouse, Diane and Andy Long of Shinnston; one brother, Freddie Moore of West Union; one sister, Elaine Tennant of Fairmont; one stepson, Josh Sandone; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Freeda Moore, who died Jan. 27, 2008; one brother, Perry Moore; and one granddaughter, Alisha Marie Moore.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today and from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating. Interment will follow in the Yost Cemetery at Daybrook.
