Burl Ross Heldreth Jr., 63, of Fairmont, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 31, 2017) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Japan on Feb. 23, 1953, a son of the late Burl R. Heldreth Sr. and Margaret Lucille (Compton) Heldreth.
He had been employed in the maintenance department of the Fairmont Morgantown Housing Authority. Prior to that he had worked at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
His hobbies included hunting and race cars.
He is survived by his companion, Brenda Yeater; his son, Bill Heldreth of Fairmont; his daughter, Michelle Grimm and her husband Scott of New York; step-children, Daniel Dixon, Raymond Tennant, William Tennant, Larry Pettit and Charity Yeater; and several grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Roger Allen Heldreth and his wife Ellen and David Lynn Heldreth, all of Fairmont; a sister, Virginia A. Hughes and her husband Carl of Rivesville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Burl was preceded in death by a son, Brandon "Buddy" Heldreth; a brother, Frances "Frank" M. Heldreth Sr.; and a sister, Calette M. Heldreth.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Hobert officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home.
