Brenda Lee King, 55, of Fairmont, passed peacefully away on Monday (April 24, 2017) at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Fairmont, on Dec. 4, 1961, the youngest daughter of the late William "Bill" Jones and Edith Lee (Slusser) Jones.
Brenda held strongly to her faith and turned to God through all the trials and tribulations of her life. Her favorite times were the times she spent with family and friends, playing dice and card games, watching her favorite shows and holding her grandchildren.
She had a sweet voice, and loved to sing. She would turn even the worst of circumstances into a song. Her beauty, both inside and out, was unsurpassed, and her heart was filled with love for everyone she met. She never met a stranger and was kind and tender to everyone, offering prayer or a helping hand to anyone in need.
Brenda is survived by her children, Stephanie Lee King Strickland and her husband Nicholas of Fairmont, Joseph William King and his wife Tyra of Fairmont, and Sarah Louise King and her fiance Levi Fox of Morgantown; her grandchildren, Issa Grace Nester, Miriam Lee Strickland, Scotty Allen Strickland, William Edward Strickland, Reed Harris Strickland, Martin Ellis Strickland, Destry "DJ" Fike, Isaac William Fox and Tristan Fox.
Also surviving is her loving former husband and closest friend, Steven Ellis King of Fairmont; her mother-in-law, Betty King of Fairmont; her two sisters, Cathy Lynn Franks and her husband Bobby of Grafton and Rebecca Jean Rosser of Fairmont; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Betty Jones officiating. Burial will follow at View Point Cemetery.
