Betty Jo Witt, 78, of Fairview, passed away Sunday (April 10, 2016) and was embraced by the love of her life, Carl H. Witt Sr., who passed away 31 years ago to the day of April 10, 1985.
She was a graduate of the former Fairview High School and attended Fairmont State College. She retired from the Marion County Board of Education as a cook. She was a former Westinghouse employee. She was a former member of the Keystone Homemakers, an accomplished cook and baker. She enjoyed making scarves for her friends and acquaintances, gardening, quilting, canning, antiquing and collecting hummingbirds. She especially loved spending quality time with her family
She is survived by children, Carla Witt Santee Ford and companion Robert Freeman, Carl Witt Jr., Darla Retton and husband Ronnie, all of Fairview; grandchildren, Olivia Santee, daughter of Robert Santee Jr., Wittlee Retton and Ronnie Retton; step-grandson, Andrew Plachta; several beloved nieces and nephews along with family friends, Greg Carruba and Gene Floyd; sister and best friend, Nellie Hayes; brother, John Kovach and his wife Linda; sister, Josephine Hyson; brother, James Kovach and his wife Connie; and sister, Linda Perkins and her husband Tom. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Greta Pollack.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lora Sharp Kovach Fuerher and Joseph Kovach.
Thank you to all of her caregivers throughout the years. Your kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated.
Family and friends will be received from 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday at Hutson Funeral Home, Farmington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. She will be laid to rest at Monumental Cemetery located outside of Barrackville.
