Betty Melinda (Collins) Pierce went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on Thursday (March 17, 2016) at Mon General Hospital.
She was born May 27, 1941.
She was the daughter of the late Oval E. Collins and Dephna P. Jones Collins.
She was married 56 years to the late James J. Pierce.
She worked at Romio's restaurant, Say Boy's, Fairmont Field Club and 32 years at Fairmont State College. She was a lay pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, then Trinity Independent Church of Monongah for a lifelong commitment to serving God.
She is survived by two children, Vivian (Pierce) Lambert and husband Paul Lambert of Monongah and Thomas Pierce and companion Robin Herron of Monongah; two grandchildren, Joshua Pierce and Melinda "Poke" Herron, both of Monongah; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail Gillespie and Hadley Herron.
She is also survived by her siblings, Ira "Benny" Collins (Helen) of Monongah, Alma Harris Chrislip of McCurdyville, Delores "Dee" Moore (Charles) of Fairmont and Lee Collins of Shepherdstown; and several nieces and nephews, good family friends, Lee Fullen, Carol Ellis and Renee Cummings.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, William "Jean" Sigley (Kenneth), Ruby and John Fast and Robert "Bob" Collins.
There will be a memorial service celebrating her life at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cross of Christ Community Church, 1 Smith St., Monongah. Dinner will follow at Monongah Town Hall.
She was a donor to the West Virginia University Gift Registry.
