Betty M. Moccia passed away Thursday (July 7, 2016) at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 12, 1926, in Fairmont, daughter of the late Carl and Sarah (Seccuro) Moccia.
She is survived by her niece, Judy Selders; a great-niece, Julie Morris; a great-nephew, John Barker; great-great-nieces, Sarah and Shelby Morris, all of Fairmont; and many cousins from the Seccuro family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Moccia.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and Catholic Daughters. She attended State Street School and graduated from East Fairmont High School.
Betty began working at a young age at the Community Market on Merchant Street and retired as a cashier from the former Community Foodland.
In her youth she enjoyed bowling, playing the piano, knitting and vacationing with her family at the beach. Later in life she enjoyed singing in the church choir and was a member of the "Fun Band."
The family will receive friends from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. held by Sister Stella Cronauer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Walter Jagela as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
