Anna (Caputo) Rote, 90, of Rivesville, went home to be with her savior on Monday (March 20, 2017) at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Munchin) Caputo.
As a homemaker and teacher's aide, Anna is remembered for her generous nurturing spirit and the love she showed to her family and community. As a fantastic cook and storyteller, who always had time to share, she will forever be known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of the Rivesville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the board of trustees. Anna also helped found the Rivesville Samaritan House along with her husband and church friends. Together they provided food, clothing and support to countless families in the area. In 1990, she was recognized by former President George Bush for her service to the community and was a recipient of the Thousand Points of Light Award. She was also a member of the Fairmont Chapter of the Order of Eastern Stars.
She is survived by two children, Joseph Rote and wife Twyla Lee of Rivesville and John Rote and wife Brenda of Fairmont; one brother, Joe Caputo, Jr. and wife Linda of Rivesville; three sisters, Armeda Wilson and husband Charles of Kingwood, Clara Hendricks of Rivesville, JoAnn Jezioro and husband Paul of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Amanda Gallaher and husband Jason, Abigail Kopischke and husband Michael, Joseph Aaron Rote, and John Rote, Jr.; five great grandchildren, Colby James, Emma Rose, and Baylee Grace Gallaher, Mia and Rocco Kopischke; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Rote; six siblings, John Caputo, Isabel Gerard, Frank "Fritz" Caputo, Sam Caputo, Anthony Caputo and Patsy Caputo.
The family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Friday at Domico Funeral Home 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
