Amelia Marie Fanto, 90, of Haymarket, Virginia, formerly of Fairmont, died peacefully Saturday (July 2, 2016) in Manassas, Virginia.
She was born in Highland on Nov. 3, 1925, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Teresa Argiro.
Amelia enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, knitting and loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger and always had a smile for those around her. She was a former member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her sons, Nicholas (Gloria) Fanto of Harleysville, Pennsylvania and Joseph (LaDonna) Fanto of Catlett, Virginia; and her daughter, Anne Marie (Gregg) Moyer of Haymarker, Virginia; and her brother, Larry (Rose) Argiro of Severna Park, Maryland.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews and cousins in the U.S., Italy and Australia.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Patsy Fanto; and her brother, Frank "Cheech" Argiro.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Fr. Robert A. Perriello as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
