Allen "Big Al"'s Story

Allen Raymond "Big Al" Alberti, 67, of Fairmont, and longtime resident of Barrackville, passed away Monday (June 6, 2016) at the Tygart Center at Fairmont Campus.
He was born Nov. 18, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, son of the late Antonio "Anthony" and Marjorie (Bovee) Alberti.
He was retired from the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of many medals, including two bronze stars and two purple hearts.
Allen was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed coaching Little League, assisting in the Barrackville Volunteer Fire Department, spending time with his many friends and riding with his biker buddies.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Wales) Alberti; three children, Tracy Alberti of Fairmont, Michelle Reeves and husband Tom of Fairmont, and Mark Alberti and wife Eve of Loraine, Ohio; four grandchildren, Andrew Frost and wife Shawna Kaye, Chris Reeves, Tyler Alberti and Brayden Alberti; two brothers, Michael Alberti and wife Heather of Columbus, South Carolina, and Raymond Alberti and wife Susan of Stockbridge, Georgia; a sister, Sharon Olekson and husband Milton of Lusby, Maryland; two nieces; his goddaughter, Melissa Dyson and husband Joseph and Anabella Alberti; three nephews, Tony Olekson and wife Danielle, Sean Alberti and Charles Tischer and wife Janelle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Alberti.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at noon Friday in the funeral home with Father Walter Jagela officiating. Allen will be cremated and interred at a later date at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
