Alberta's Story

Alberta Lena Miller, 72, of Fairmont, departed this life Tuesday (June 28, 2016).
She was born Dec. 11, 1943, in Farmington, to the late Lonnie and Alberta (Neal) Sumlin.
She is survived by six children, Andrew (Chrissy) Sumlin of Greensboro, North Carolina, Kervin (Joann) Washington of Elkins, June Austin, Kim Miller and Melissa Rogers, all of Fairmont, and James Miller of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is also survived by two sisters, Rose Mann of Fairmont and Carrie (Robert) Thompson of Farmington; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, John "Papoose" Sumlin; five brothers, Gussie Sumlin, Alfred Mason, Lonnie Sumlin, Clieve Sumlin and Roy Sumlin; and three sisters, Genevieve Mason, Johnnie Mae Wood and Beatrice Sumlin.
Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont is in charge of the arrangements. According to Alberta's wishes, cremation will be her final disposition. There will be a celebration of life July 4 at her residence.
