Wilma Lewis, 79, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 10, 2018). She was born in Caress in Braxton County on Nov. 29, 1938, a daughter of the late Oscar Dennison and Eva (Sharp) Dennison.
Wilma graduated from Fairview High School and was employed by Westinghouse for a time. She enjoyed quilting, and later became the founder and owner of Lewis Curtains and Draperies. She was deeply involved with the community, serving as a member of the Marion County Rescue Squad and as a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Fairmont.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Kay Dukich and husband Michael, of Barrackville; three sons, Robert Lewis and wife Martha, of Sparta, North Carolina, Randy Lewis and wife Kristy, of Grafton, and Kenneth Wayne Lewis of Grafton; nine grandchildren, Dani Summers, Robert Lewis, Candy Workman, Amy Brooks, Anna Lewis, Erika Lawler, Alex Lewis, Chris Lewis and Zakkari White; and two sisters, Ada Marcozzi of Grant Town, and Sheila Hayes and her husband Vernon of Fairmont; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lewis, in September of 2011; a son, Richard Lewis; two brothers, Wilber "Wil" Dennison and Wayne Dennison; two sisters, Monty "Mona" Ice and Glenda Mowrey; and three brothers-in-law, John Marcozzi, Tom Mowrey and Minor Ice.
The Lewis family invites friends for visitation from 1-8 p.m. Friday and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Sonny Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
