William "Ed" Edward Lewis Sr., 71, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (June 2, 2016) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Rivesville, on Nov. 9, 1944, a son of the late William McKinley Lewis and Laura Ann Brady Lewis.
Ed was self-employed. He enjoyed collecting junk. In addition, he was an avid NASCAR fan, especially fond of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He enjoyed trout fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Sherry Lewis; a son, William E. Lewis Jr. of Ohio; two daughters, Kellie Ann Lewis of Ohio and Roberta Ann Lewis of Texas; a stepdaughter, Brenda Moore of Fairmont; and several grandchildren including, Treanna Lewis, Brandon Cottrell, Ryan Cottrell and Caleb Lewis; several great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers and their spouses, Delno Lewis and his wife Karen of Cabins, Bruce Lewis of Ohio, and Michael Lewis and his wife Wanda of Tennessee; a sister, Betty McIntire of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Darris Lewis; three sisters-in-law, June Lewis, Barbara Lewis and Frances Lewis; and a brother-in-law, David L. McIntire.
Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. today, 1-8 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Carpenter & Ford funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
